Every day there is more bad news for the newspaper industry, but it is usually reported in the context of dollars and cents, economic doldrums and shifting paradigms for information delivery. The 149-year-old Rocky Mountain News published its last edition on Friday. Matthew Roberts, the multi-media producer for www.rockymountainnews.com decided to showcase the human element. The loss of daily newspapers, at least in their current format and frequency, is imminent. It is an emotional moment in American culture, and perhaps the clearest evidence of what happens at the intersection of rapid technological advancement and prolonged economic downturn.
